From visitdubai.com: Once a small fishing village in the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is today one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. One of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is home to nearly 200 nationalities and offers a truly memorable experience to all visitors.
Whether it is by the banks of the Creek, or at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, Dubai lives and breathes a sense of possibility and innovation. And with an unparalleled coastline, beautiful desert and magnificent cityscapes, memories are just waiting to be made there.
According to visitdubai.com: Dubai is a cosmopolitan city and a diverse melting pot where almost all attires and cultural expressions are accepted. Dressing conservatively is appreciated in Dubai's historic neighborhoods and places of worship. There are specific requirements for entering a mosque, like wearing clothing that covers shoulders, arms and legs – and headscarves for women. On our Dubai Desert Barbecue, conservative attire is required, including no exposed shoulders and knees. In addition, closed-toe athletic shoes should be worn, and a light wrap for the evening is recommended. Alcohol is served in licensed establishments to those over 21 years of age. However, drunk and disorderly conduct and drunk driving are not acceptable. Suggestions for greetings and useful etiquette tips can also be found on visitdubai.com.
